Inland waterway on the Oder

Our Company participated in the project of modernization of train locks along with their outer ports and controls on barrages, as well as revitalization of short locks for the continuity of inland navigation on the Oder River.

Inland waterway on the Oder

The scope of work includes the design, implementation, delivery (including assembly and commissioning) of hydraulic drives for gates and channel closures. These channels are located on the 9.60 m wide upper and lower draft locks and the heads of the 12 m wide upper, lower and intermediate locks.

As part of the project, we made double-acting hydraulic cylinders (with an eye on the piston rod for driving the gate wings, and without an eyelet, for installation in horizontal rope winches). We also made hydraulic power packs and a set of pipelines connecting power packs with actuators.

Due to the work in difficult conditions, in a humid environment, the piston rods of the cylinders are made of stainless steel and covered with a triple layer of chrome. They have been equipped with dirt and ice scrapers. The paint cover of the sylinders was made acc. to C5-M class.

Each wing of the gate is driven by one hydraulic cylinder and has its own independent hydraulic drive. The drives of the gate wings are activated simultaneously.

The hydraulic power unit drives each gate valve in one channel without synchronizing with the gate valve in the other channel, however, the drives of both gate valves are activated at the same time. The hydraulic power unit is used both to drive each gate leaf and the gate latch.

The hydraulic power unit made as part of the project consists of an oil tank with a built-in drive unit and control apparatus, placed in an oil pan. The whole is enclosed in a stainless steel housing. The tank itself along with the drip tray and all connecting elements, pipe holders and pipes are also made of stainless steel in order to protect the system against adverse weather conditions.

The drive unit is a double gear pump and an electric motor with a power of 5.5 kW. UZPR10 overflow valves mounted on the block limit the maximum operating pressure of the pumps independently for each section. The WE10 type spool valve mounted on the block is used to unload the pump (currentless position) or to direct the oil to the further part of the system. Similarly, the second WE10 type distributor in the currentless position unloads the pump, and after override, it transfers the oil to the further part of the system. Through the distributors, the oil from the selected pump (or pumps) is directed to the block with distributors, which are responsible for controlling the direction of movement of the gate and gate hydraulic actuators. Pump outputs have been selected in such a way that by starting 1 or 2 pumps, you can obtain identical receiver speeds in both directions of operation.

Under the distributors, there are Z2FS10 check-throttle valves, used to limit the stroke speed of hydraulic cylinders, and braking valves, which enable maintaining the preset positions of the cylinder pistons.

A manual pump is mounted on the side wall of the tank, enabling emergency power supply to the sylinders in the event of a power failure.

The power supply has been equipped with appropriate filters and sensors necessary for the proper functioning of the system.

The hydraulic apparatus used allows opening and closing the gates up to max. 1 min, and gate valves to max. 45 seconds.
