Research and Development Work on the Development of an Innovative Marine Winch System Designed for Operation in Arctic Conditions
PONAR Wadowice S.A., in a consortium with TOWIMOR S.A. from Toruń, has completed the project entitled “Research and Development Work on the Development of an Innovative Marine Winch System Designed for Operation in Arctic Conditions”, co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014–2020, Measure 1.1, Sub-measure 1.1.1 Fast Track.
As part of the project, mooring and anchoring systems with hydraulic drives adapted to temperature ranges from -52°C to +45°C were developed. The equipment resulting from the R&D project finds application, inter alia, on vessels whose primary LNG loading port is in the Arctic region (North-Eastern Siberia) and which navigate polar sea routes, including the Northern Sea Route.
EU Funding Contribution for PONAR Wadowice S.A.: PLN 1,129,151.01

Research and Development Work on an Innovative, High-Efficiency, and Eco-Friendly Hull Cleaning System for Floating Craft
PONAR Wadowice S.A. has completed the project entitled “Research and Development Work on an Innovative, High-Efficiency, and Eco-Friendly Hull Cleaning System for Floating Craft”, co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under Measure 1.2 of the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014–2020.
The project was carried out as part of the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) call for proposals: INNOship-II.
The objective of the project was to conduct R&D work to create an innovative, integrated suite of equipment for the robotic and eco-friendly cleaning of ship and vessel hulls.
We plan to develop an innovative product characterised primarily by:
- Higher efficiency in the cleaning process;
- Modular design facilitating the assembly and disassembly of sub-assemblies;
- Remote operation capability from distances up to 100 metres from the surface being cleaned;
- Custom adaptability of the system to specific tasks.

“PONAR Wadowice S.A. is implementing the project entitled “Thermal Modernisation of PONAR Wadowice S.A. Company Buildings (production hall, warehouse hall, office and staff building) to Reduce Primary Energy Consumption” under the European Funds for Modern Economy 2021–2027 Programme as part of the Ecological Credit competition.”
British English Translation:
Project Objective: To achieve primary energy savings of at least 30% across the scope covered by the project. The implementation of the project will lead to a reduction in primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions from production at the PONAR Wadowice plant, which will translate into a reduced carbon footprint for the products offered, including components, spare parts, and oil hydraulic systems.
Target Groups: The direct beneficiary of the project outcomes is PONAR Wadowice S.A., along with the Beneficiary’s employees who use the facilities modernised as a result of the project, namely the production hall, warehouse hall, and office and staff building.
Additionally, owing to the reduction in the carbon footprint of manufacturing operations, domestic and foreign customers purchasing the Beneficiary’s products (in particular, buyers of fluid power systems, such as construction and defence sector companies) will also benefit from the project outcomes.
Project Outcomes: The investment will encompass three buildings — the office and staff building, warehouse hall, and production hall — and involves:
- Thermal modernisation of external building envelopes — external walls (office and staff building);
- Thermal modernisation of windows (office and staff building);
- Thermal modernisation of external building envelopes — external walls (production hall);
- Thermal modernisation of external building envelopes — external walls (steel warehouse);
- Thermal modernisation of windows (steel warehouse);
- Installation of a 550 kWp photovoltaic system (production hall roof);
- Upgrade of heat recovery from the compressor system for domestic hot water (DHW) purposes;
- Dismantling of the existing extraction system and installation of a mechanical extraction ventilation system with heat recovery (production hall).
