PONAR Wadowice S.A. undertook the manufacture of a test bench for an aerospace industry company. The test bench enables testing of pumps, oil coolers, and oil injectors under conditions similar to those during operation – from machine take-off, through flight at various altitudes, to landing.
To perform the tests, the test bench supply system operates at a maximum pressure of 60 bar, a temperature of 130 °C, and a flow rate of up to 70 dm3/min. The pressure range in the tank is regulated from -0.8 bar (vacuum) to 3 bar – the vacuum is generated by a vacuum pump, and overpressure in the tank is achieved by reducing pressure from the plant compressed air supply.
Due to the high vacuum and overpressure values, it was necessary to perform a structural strength analysis of the tank using the Finite Element Method. For the purposes of the test bench, a specially designed housing was manufactured in which the pump is placed. A 7.5 kW electric motor driving the tested pump allows for a wide speed range, i.e., from 2,000 to 8,000 rpm. Feedback in the control system is provided by a speed sensor built into the electric motor.
This is the first test bench for testing this type of pump, excluding the manufacturer itself – Parker. Our devices have been installed on the test bench: UDDD6, DB20, UDZB30, DBD S10 relief valves, 2URES6, URZS32, UDUD10, S20. Modifications to the components included changing the seals so they could operate at a temperature of 130 °C, as well as the method of setting adjustment and certain technical parameters.
