Hydraulic Systems for Iron&Steel industry

The implementation of the project for the Coking Plant included the design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of hydraulic equipment involved in the technological process of coke production.

The first device in the coke production process is the gas reversing machine, for which we manufactured a system used to regulate the amount of gas and air. It powers two hydraulic cylinders: one opens and closes the gas valves, and the other is responsible for regulating the air supply valves. This device is a very important element in coke production because it acts as a dispenser for the appropriate air and gas mixture that bakes the coke in the coke oven chambers.

In addition to the primary hydraulic control system, the system utilizes an emergency system – a manually driven hydraulic unit that is activated in the event of a power outage or failure of the primary power unit.

The second device in this process is the so-called coke transfer car used to receive the baked coke. The coke transfer car uses a hydraulic system that operates four devices:

  1. Door extractor – opens the oven chamber and closes the door after unloading. To this end, 6 actuators were used: four hydraulic cylinders and two hydraulic motors controlled by a valve block on which hydraulic control elements are mounted: directional valves, pressure valves, proportional directional valves.
    • the USAB proportional valve is responsible for moving the cylinder towards the door and retracting it
    • the cylinder enabling device rotation is also controlled by a USAB type proportional valve
    • hydraulic motors for unlatching the top and bottom bolts are controlled using 4WE10 directional valves
    • bolt rotation and door lifting cylinders are controlled by the 4WE10 directional valve and secured with check valves (hydraulic locks), speed regulation via Z2FS10.
  2. The door cleaning device is a unit where the working function is performed by four actuators:
    • the hydraulic motor responsible for driving the door cleaning carriage, controlled by a 4WE10 directional valve, where speed regulation is performed by a Z2FS valve.
    • cylinders cleaning the lower and upper part of the door, controlled by a 4WE10 directional valve
    • device feed cylinder, controlled by means of a USAB proportional valve.
  3. The coke guide is the so-called chute that receives coke from the chamber – in this device, work is performed by two cylinders controlled by a USAB proportional valve.
  4. Door frame cleaner in the chamber – this device is pushed forward and retracted by a hydraulic cylinder controlled by a proportional valve. The cleaning carriage driven by a hydraulic motor cleans the door frame.

The roof car, moving along the oven roof, is a device whose task is to regulate and degas the chamber during its emptying. The roof car operates in parallel with the coke transfer car and the coal charging car on the coal side.

The hydraulic system of the roof car operates three devices on which a total of 15 actuators – hydraulic cylinders – are mounted:

  • assembly of jumper pipes performing the opening of covers during chamber degassing – this work is performed by 5 cylinders controlled by 4WE10 type directional valves
  • the jumper pipe cleaning device consists of two hydraulic cylinders performing cover rotation and its lifting; control is carried out using a 4WE10 directional valve
  • the device controlling the suction pipe valves and the hydraulic cleaning of the receiver – this device is operated by hydraulic cylinders.
