Hydraulic systems supplying test benches for testing CO flow control valves

The designed hydraulic power units are intended to power the clamping and additional sealing units for central heating (CH) flow control valves during pressure testing.

At the final stage of the valve assembly process, the tightness of the valve body and the tightness of the valve shut-off plug are tested. On the test benches, valve tightness can be verified for sizes up to DN400.

For this purpose, the valves are placed in the nest of the testing bench and then clamped along the flow axis with sealing flanges. The designed hydraulic power units drive the hydraulic cylinders responsible for closing and sealing the valves under test.

In the next stage, the valves are filled with high-pressure water (from a separate filling system), and then, after cutting off the water supply, any possible pressure drop in the event of leakage is measured.

One of the supplied hydraulic power units, together with directional valves, serves 3 clamping stations sealing the valve during testing. Each clamping station is equipped with hydraulic cylinders with an actuator speed of 150 mm/s. The hydraulic pressure can be adjusted to vary the cylinder thrust force depending on the tested product, from 7 kN to 85 kN.

A control block is mounted on the power unit, equipped with:

• 4WE6 type directional control valves – controlling the direction of oil flow (the direction of movement of the actuator),
• Z2S6 type pilot-operated check valves – maintaining the actuators in the set position,
• Z2FS6 type throttle check valves – enabling the adjustment of the flow rate in one direction and free flow in the opposite direction (adjustment of the movement speed of actuators).
