PONAR Wadowice was a Partner of the “Industry for Defence” conference, which took place on 14 October at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. The event brought together representatives of industry and the defence sector, creating a space to discuss the challenges and future directions of the industry.
Marek Warzecha, CEO of PONAR Wadowice, took part in the panel discussion “Local content and polonisation. How much of Poland is in Polish defence?”, dedicated to the role of domestic enterprises in building Poland’s defence capabilities.
“Right now, we have a unique opportunity to enter export markets and grow our sales abroad. However, to export, we must first develop and test our own products. Without exports, the defence sector cannot grow on a global scale,” said Marek Warzecha.
As part of the conference, a debate titled “Dual-Use Industry. Dual-use economy” was also held, featuring Piotr Rosikowski, Director of Engineering and Development at PONAR Wadowice. The conversation focused on the challenges associated with developing and implementing technologies across various branches of industry, including the defence sector.
“In the case of mining, we had to deal with high temperatures,” said Piotr Rosikowski. “In the defence sector, the challenge was to ensure that machines could operate in conditions ranging from Alaska to the Sahara—working effectively in both extremely low and high temperatures. In the defence industry, significant investment is required for research, testing, and approvals.”
During the conference, Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), highlighted the importance of collaborating with PONAR Wadowice on the CBWP “Niedźwiedź” project, stating: “Without PONAR, we wouldn’t have built the Niedźwiedź.”
This serves as confirmation of the importance of domestic technological and engineering expertise, as well as cooperation among Polish enterprises in developing modern solutions for defence.
